Placement Strategies

The Placement Strategies item on the menu pops up a window that provides information about the selected placement. This information is divided into a pie chart on the right and important data points on the left. The totals include all currencies.

Strategies: The name of the strategies that were considered

Rec Views: The number of rec views for the strategy (across all currencies)

Rec Clicks: The number of clicks on recs for the strategy (across all currencies)

Attributable Sales: Sales attributable to recs for the strategy

By clicking on "Compare Rates" you can also see:

CTR: The click through rate for the strategy

RPC: Revenue per click for the strategy (attributable sales / clicks on recs)

RPMi: Revenue per thousand impressions for the strategy (attributable sales / rec views * 1000)

Pie Chart

The pie chart on the right side shows the share of each strategy for the various metrics over the last seven days. To see which wedge of the pie corresponds to which strategy and its metric share, hover over the wedge. To change the metric shown in the pie chart, select the metric column in the table.

Additional Notes

In addition to recommendations driven by strategies, they can also be driven by different rule types. These are recorded in the Placement Strategies report as well, in the following ways.

Advanced Merchandising: For recommendations driven by Advanced Merchandising rules, the strategy is listed as AdvancedMerchandising.

Manual Merchandising: For recommendations driven by Manual Merchandising rules, the strategy is listed as ManualRecommendationFloating or ManualRecommendationFixed

  • ManualRecommendationFloating - This is how views for all recommendations driven by manual rules are recorded for reporting. It also represents manual recommendations that are assigned to more than one placement.

  • ManualRecommendationFixed - If a manual recommendation can only appear in a specific given placement, it is recorded with this label.
